Policy-based NAT and Port Address Translation (PAT) allows network managers to apply rules to
NAT functionality, providing more intelligence than standard NAT; the NAT policy integrates
easily with an organization's security and QoS policies.
Application Level Gateways (ALGs)
The SR firewall solution includes more than 30 ALGs that are used to enable the firewall to open
only the ports necessary to support complex applications such as Voice over IP (VoIP) and
Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) communications.
Policies, Zones, and Virtual Firewalls
Using SR technology, organizations can establish policies, zones, and virtual firewalls, enabling
them to establish strict access rules per customer and groups of customers; the virtual firewall
solution lets service providers easily manage a collection of firewalls for multiple customers.
The SR allows configuration of 25 zones each with up to 1,024 policies. In addition 32,000 active
simultaneous sessions are supported. The SR continues to provide wire-speed WAN performance with
full firewalling enabled.
MD5 authentication is supported for all routing protocols.
