Troubleshooting
If you run into any problems using your camcorder, use the following table to troubleshoot the
problem. If the problem persists, disconnect the power source and contact your Sony dealer.
Overall operations/Easy Handycam
The power does not turn on.
• Attach a charged battery pack to the camcorder (p. 9).
• Use the AC Adaptor to connect to a wall socket (p. 9).
• For DCR-HC44E/HC46E/HC94E/HC96E:
Insert your camcorder into the Handycam Station correctly (p. 10).
The camcorder does not operate even when the power is set to on.
• Disconnect the AC Adaptor from the wall socket or remove the battery pack, then reconnect
it after about 1 minute.
• Press the RESET button (p. 31) using a sharp-pointed object. (If you press the RESET button,
all settings are reset, except Personal Menu items.)
Buttons do not work.
• During Easy Handycam operation, not all buttons are functional (p. 25).
Easy Handycam operation cannot be switched to normal operation.
• While recording or communicating with another device via USB cable, you cannot switch
Easy Handycam operation to the normal operation.
Settings change during Easy Handycam operation.
• During Easy Handycam operation, the settings of the functions that are not displayed on the
screen return to their defaults. Previously made settings are restored when you cancel the
Easy Handycam operation (p. 24, 42).
[DEMO MODE] does not start.
• You cannot view the demonstration when NIGHTSHOT PLUS (DCR-HC36E/HC44E/
HC46E)/NIGHTSHOT (DCR-HC94E/HC96E) switch is set to ON (p. 29).
• Eject the cassette and "Memory Stick Duo" from your camcorder (p. 20, 21).
The camcorder gets warm.
• The camcorder may get warmer while you use it. This is not a malfunction.
