General information

Unit installation
Read this instruction manual thoroughly
before using the unit and keep it for further
consultation even after installation.
• This unit complies with low voltage
(EEC/73/23), electromagnetic compatibility
(EEC/89/336) and pressure equipment
(EEC/97/23) Directives.
• For safety reasons, installers are required to
read the general information carefully.
• Follow all the instructions below to ensure
safety.
• Inspect the unit for damage due to improper
transport.
• Do not install or use damaged equipment.
• To prevent fire, explosion or injury, do not
operate the unit near dangerous substances or
close to naked light equipment.
• Ensure that national safety code requirements
have been followed for the main supply circuit.
Follow all current national safety code
requirements for the installation.
• Ensure that a properly sized and connected
ground wire is in place.
• Check that voltage and frequency of the mains
power supply are those required for the unit to
be installed; the available power must be
adequate to operate any other appliances
connected to the same line.
• Make sure that properly sized disconnecting
and safety switches are installed.
• The manufacturer declines any liability from
damage resulting from modifications or errors
in the electrical or hydraulic connections.
Failure to observe the installation instructions,
or use of the unit under conditions other than
those indicated in the table "Operating limits" of
the unit owner's manual, will immediately
invalidate the unit warranty.
• All of the manufacturing and packaging
materials used for your new appliance are
compatible with the environment and can
be recycled.
• Dispose of the packaging material in
accordance with local requirements.
• It is recommended to install a circuit breaker or
a 10 A safety fuse upstream of the supply
switch.
• If an extension lead is needed
(up to 25 m) make sure that the wire section is
not less than 1.5 mm

Unit operation
• This appliance has an automatic function of
'unit restart' (in the last mode selected) after
an AC power interruption.
• In order to avoid electric shock, fire or injury,
stop the unit and disconnect the safety switch
in case of abnormal events (such as smell of
burning) and call Carrier Service for further
instructions.
• Do not place containers filled with liquids or
other objects onto the unit.

Maintenance
WARNING: disconnect the mains power
supply prior to any maintenance operations
or prior to handling any internal parts of the
unit.
• A routine maintenance should be carried out
on the unit to check the correct operation of
the electric connections and protection
devices.
• Extraordinary maintenance operations must
be carried out by specially trained personnel.
• Maintenance operations must be carried out
by specially trained personnel.
• Do not attempt to repair, move, modify the unit
on your own. to avoid electric shock or fire
make sure these operations are carried out by
qualified personnel only.
• Contact the qualified service if one of the
following events takes place:
- hot or damaged power supply cable;
- unusual noise during operation;
- frequent operation of the protection devices;
- unusual smell (such as smell of burning).
Choosing the installation site
• Choose an area free from obstructions which
may cause irregular air distribution and/or
return.
• Choose a position that allows for the
clearances required (see "Correct use"
section).
• Look for a position in the room which assures
the best possible air distribution.
• Check that the floor surface is flat enough to
allow easy and safe installation of the unit.
The floor structure should be strong enough to
carry the unit weight and avoid deformation,
rupture or vibration during operation.
• Choose a position that allows for the
clearances required (see drawing).
• Install unit in a position where condensate can
easily be piped to an appropriate drain.
Positions to avoid:
• Exposed to direct sun.
• Too close to heat sources.
• On humid walls or positions with water
hazard, e.g. laundry premises.
• Exposure to oil vapours (e.g. kitchens,
workshops).
• Where curtains or furniture may obstruct free
air circulation.

• This appliance is an air conditioning system
and contains a coolant that must be recovered
and disposed of in an appropriate way by
qualified personnel.At the end of the useful life
of the appliance, take it to a proper recycling
or disposal centre or return it to the dealer so
that it can be disposed of correctly.
• Carrier is very sensitive to environment and
welcomes the 2002/96/EC Directive WEEE
(Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment).
This product is compliant with EU directive
2002/96/EC. It must be collected separately
after its use is completed, and cannot be
disposed as unsorted municipal waste.

The objectives of EU directive 2002/96/EC are
to tackle the fast increasing waste stream of
electrical and electronic equipment, increase
recycling of electric & electronic equipment
("EEE"), and to limit the total quantity of waste
EEE ("WEEE") going to final disposal. The
crossed out wheeled bin symbol that is affixed
to the product means that this product falls
under the Directive. The user is responsible
for returning the product to the appropriate
collection facility, as specified by your
municipality or the distributor. In case of
installation of a new product, it may be
possible to have the distributor pick up old
WEEE directly. The producer, importer and
distributor of are responsible for collection and
treatment of waste, either directly or through a
collective system. The list of the Carrier
distributor in each country is shown in the
attached table.In case of violation of the
Directive, sanctions are set in each country.
Carrier is following the CECED interpretation,
and consider the WEEE applicable to Portable
units, Dehumidifiers, WRACs, Split Systems
up to 12 kW, plug in refrigerators and
freezers.Nevertheless, there may be
difference among member state laws. In case
country law calls for a different range of
application, country law must be followed.
This directive does not apply to products sold
outside European Community. In case the
product is sold out of EU, WEEE obligations
do not have to be followed, while compliance
with local regulation must be ensured. For
additional information, please contact the
municipal facility, the shop/dealer/installer that
have sold the product or the producer.
Remote control
• Do not use used batteries of different types,
as this may cause the unit to malfunction.
• The average battery life during normal use is
approximately 6 months.
• No obstructions such as curtains or plants
should be between control and unit.
• Direct sun on the unit receiver may interfere
with good signal reception.
• Keep the remote controller away from all
liquids.
• Protect the remote controller from high
temperatures and exposure to radiation.
• Keep remote control away from EMI (Electro-
Magnetic Interference) supplied by other
household appliances.
• The maximum operating range for the remote
control is approx. 5 m.
• The control must be directed toward the unit
receiver when pressing the buttons of the
desired functions. An acoustical
acknowledgement sound (beep) will indicate
that signal has been received
• If you do not use the remote controller for
several weeks remove the batteries.
Otherwise battery leakage may damage the
remote control
• Replace the batteries when there is no
answering beep from the indoor unit or if the
Transmission Indicator light fails to appear.
