1/200 to 1/250. Upper and lower oil traps, double risers and reduced pipe diameters may be required
for suction lines where long vertical risers cannot be avoided.
All pipes should be adequately supported to prevent sagging which can create oil traps. The
recommended pipe clamp support distance is shown in Table 20 below:
Tube size
12.7 mm (1/2 inch)
16.0 mm (5/8 inch
22.0 mm (7/8 inch)
28.5 mm (1 1/8 inch)

NOTE: It is strongly recommended to insulate both the suction and liquid interconnecting
piping between the OL unit and the evaporator.

Brazing recommendations

CAUTION
High temperature! Risk of component damage! Always use a wet cloth
when brazing the suction tube. Pay special attention to the pressure transmitter
on the suction pipe: it needs to be cooled down during brazing to avoid any
damage to the component.
IMPORTANT
Blockage! Compressor breakdown! Maintain a flow of oxygen-free nitrogen
through the system at very low-pressure during brazing. Nitrogen displaces the
air and prevents the formation of copper oxides in the system. If allowed to
form, the copper oxide material can later be swept through the system and
block screens such as those protecting capillary tubes, thermal expansion
valves, and accumulator oil return holes.
Contamination or moisture! Bearing failure! Do not remove the plugs until
the compressor is set into the unit. This minimises any entry of contaminants
and moisture.
