Connecting HMI devices within the PROFINET ring, example with CPU 1515R-2 PN
The figure below shows an example of how to connect an HMI device with CPU 1515R-2 PN
within the PROFINET ring.

CPU 1515R-2 PN has a PROFINET IO interface with two ports (X1 P1 R and X1 P2 R) and
one PROFINET interface (X2 P1).
Integrate a switch into the PROFINET ring to connect an HMI device to the PROFINET ring.
Use this to establish a connection to the HMI device.
The PROFINET ring is set up using the PROFINET IO interfaces (X1) of the CPUs. If you
operate HMI devices within the ring, you need to assign the MRP role "Client" to the MRP
domain. You can find more information on HMI device application planning in the section
Requirements (Page 49).
