SENSEPOINT RFD OPERATING MANUAL
Sensepoint RFD can be configured to monitor flammable gas with a detection range
of 0-20% or 0-100% LEL dependant upon the sensor type used (See section 10.5)
The signal output of a catalytic gas sensor (measured in milli-volts) varies with gas
concentration and between different flammable gases. This 'Relative response'
between different flammable gases must be accounted for during the calibration of
Sensepoint RFD.
To simplify calibration for different flammable gases Honeywell Analytics employs a
'Star rating' system. An 8* gas gives a high output whereas a 1* rating gives a low
output.
Calibration of a catalytic gas sensor should be done using the target gas or a gas of
the same star rating. When this is not possible a calibration gas having a star rating
close to the target gas should be used.
The star rating information below is based on Sensepoint. For star ratings related to
a specific gas and sensor refer to the relevant sensor product manual.
