Towing a Vehicle with
A utom atic/M anual Transmission
The vehicle may be tow e d w ith all o f
the w heels on the g ro u n d and the
se le cto r lever in p o sitio n " N 'Vneu-
tral fo r distances up to 120 km/75
m iles and at a speed not to exceed
50 km /h/30 mph.
To p o sitively avoid a p o s s ib ility of
dam age to the tra n sm issio n , ho w ­
ever, we recom m end to d is co n n e ct
the drive shaft at the rear axle drive
flange on any to w in g beyond a
s h o rt to w to a nearby garage.
F ront to w in g : A ttach J-h o o ks to
lo w er c o n tro l arm s. P osition a 4 ft
long, 4 in x 4 in piece o f w o o d w ith
spacer b lo cks u n d e r tie -d o w n
hooks. A ttach safety chains to tie ­
dow n hooks.
Rear to w in g : A ttach T -h o o ks to tie ­
dow n slo ts in fram e (behind sp rin g
seat). A ttach safety chains to lo w e r
sp rin g links.

Ju m p S ta rtin g

If the ba tte ry is discha rg ed the en­
g ine can be started w ith ju m p e r
cables (m in im u m cable cross sec­
tio n is 25 m m 2) and the (12 V) bat­
tery o f a n o th e r vehicle. Proceed as
fo llo w s :
1. T u rn key to ste ering lo c k p o si­
tio n 0.
2. First c o n n e c t ju m p e r cables to
the po sitive b attery te rm in a ls and
then to th e negative term inals.
3. S ta rt and run e n g in e o f ju m p e r
veh icle at h igh idle.
4. S ta rt en g ine o f th e disabled v e h i­
cle in th e usual m anner.
5. A fte r the e n g in e has started, firs t
rem ove ju m p e r cables fro m the
negative b a tte ry te rm in a ls and
then fro m the p ositive te rm in als.
In s tru c tio n s :
A d isch a rg e d b a tte ry can freeze
at ap p ro x. - 10° C /+ 1 4 0 F. In all
cases it m ust be thaw ed o u t before
ju m p e r cables are used.
