    GENERAL SAFETY RULES Service Tool service must be performed only by qualified repair personnel. Service or maintenance performed by unqualified personnel could result in a risk of injury.     UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS When unpacking the tool: Carefully remove the tool and accessories from the box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list are in- cluded. Inspect the tool carefully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred during shipping. Do not discard the packing material until you have care- fully inspected and satisfactorily operated the tool.

    By doing this you will get a smoother, faster cut and prolong blade life. Replacement blades for this saw are available from your nearest Ridgid dealer. SWITCH To turn your saw ON, pull switch trigger.

    OPERATION WARNING: Always wear safety googles or safety glasses dur- ing powertool operation or when blowing dust. If operatin is dusty, also wear a dust mask. WARNING: Exercise caution when using this tool. Careless actions, for even a fraction of a second, can result in serious personal injury.
  • Page 11 OPERATION WARNING: Cutting into electrical wiring in walls can cause metal surfaces of the saw to become electrically live. Do not touch metal parts when cutting into a wall; grasp only the insulated gripping surfaces pro- vided on the tool. Make sure hidden electrical wir- ing, water pipes and mechanical hazards are not in the blade path when cutting into a wall.

    OPERATION METAL CUTTING See Figure 7. Metals such as sheet steel, pipe, steel rods, aluminum, brass, and copper may be cut with your saw. Be careful not to twist or bend the saw blade. Do not force. We recommend cutting oil when cutting most soft metals and steel. Cutting oil will also keep blades cool, increase cutting action, and prolong blade life.

    MAINTENANCE WARNING: When servicing use only identical RIDGID® re- placement parts. Use of any other parts may cre- ate a hazard or cause product damage. WARNING: The tool should never be connected to a power supply when you are assembling parts, making adjustments, cleaning, performing maintenance, or when the tool is not in use.
