Base Unit Description

This section contains information needed to order and configure a production Intel® Storage System SSR316MJ2. The
unit is shipped as a complete, fully integrated, system. The base system includes software; however there are optional
software packages available to upgrade the functionality of the unit.

The Intel® Storage System SSR316MJ2 contains the following
Hardware
1 x 3U system chassis (including Serial ATA hard disk drive backplane)
1 x Intel® Server Board SE7501HG2
16 x Intel® hard disk drive carriers (for use with Serial ATA drives)
2 x Intel® RAID Controller SRCS28X
2 x 700 W power supply modules
16 x Serial ATA hard disk drive cable
2 x compact flash readers
2 x Intel® Xeon™ Processor 3.06 GHz

Software
SAN management software (installed on unit)
Storage System Console (remote configuration and management tool)

The following optional software packages are offered as accessories for the SSR316MJ2 base unit:
Scalability Package: allows multiple units to pool storage and connectivity recourses
Configurable Snapshot Package: allows snapshots to be created automatically
Remote Data Protection Package: offers remote volume copy over IP networks

NOTE: Intel Storage System SSR316MJ2 memory upgrade guideline -
Required (for functionality): 100 MB plus 200 MB per 1 TB of raw storage installed. Example: for 16 x 250 GB
drives, memory requirements = 100 MB + (200 MB x 4) = 900 MB, therefore 1 GB.
Recommended (for optimum performance): 128 MB per 250 GB drive installed. Example: 128 MB x 16 = 2 GB
