2) SCANCAT
This program is designed to control several different receivers from different
manufacturers including the R-5000. Scancat is also a very advanced and multipurpose remote
control program. You can enter frequencies, select a VFO or memory, change mode, and
load/read memory channels. Several sample channel files are included, and you can create
your own. You can read the channels in the radio and store them into a file. The strength of this
program is in its scanning capability. You can scan between any two frequencies at any rate
and increment. This program also comes in a couple of versions, a basic version and a more
advanced one. The company offers a demonstration disk or a downloadable evaluation copy

3) HAMWINDOWS PLUS
This program controls the R-5000 (and others) from Microsoft Windows. I have not tried
this program but according the review in Monitoring Times magazine (Sept-Oct '93) it is the
ultimate in a remote control program. But all these capabilities come at a high price (list is

4) 440 SPOILER
A simple menu-driven program to control the TS-440 transceiver, but will work on R-
5000. 440 Spoiler is an older DOS based program that has been around for years. It allows you
to change one function at a time by selecting a letter from a menu. This is one step above using
a modem communications program and typing the commands in yourself. 440 Spoiler is
shareware and is available from:
