OPERATION

Shallow Water Operation

Excessive trim/tilt angle during
operation can cause the propeller
to raise out of the water and cause
propeller ventilation and engine
over-revving. Excessive trim/tilt
angle can also damage the water
pump and overheat the engine.
When operating in shallow water, tilt
the motor up to prevent the propeller
and gear case from hitting the bottom
(see page
96
). With the motor tilted
up, operate the motor at low speed.
Monitor the cooling water check hole
for water discharge. Be sure that the
motor is not tilted so high that the
water intakes are out of the water.
