Configuring the LA interface
This procedure is used to configure the LAN interface except as directed for the
following measurement hardware:
• Agilent Infiniium oscilloscope: If your measurement hardware is an Agilent
Infiniium oscilloscope, skip this chapter and follow the instructions in
7 , "Configuring Infiniium Windows XP Scopes," on page
• Agilent Synthetic Instrument (SI) Spectrum Analyzer: If your measurement
hardware is an Agilent Synthetic Instrument (SI) Spectrum Analyzer, skip this
chapter and follow the instructions in
Instrument (SI) Spectrum Analyzer to the Agilent 89600 VSA," on page

Documentation section of the Agilent IO Libraries Suite. You can find this when
you click on the IO Control icon in the task bar and then select Documentation.

You must ensure that the IP addresses for your computer and measurement
hardware are compatible, then configure the LAN interface. The IP address
consists of 4 groups of numbers separated by periods (for example,
192.192.192.25).
To configure your LA interface:
1. Set the IP address on the instrument, using the appropriate set of instructions:
— instrument IP address for a computer on Local Area network or IP address
for computer cable (see:
configuration" (page

2. Run Connection Expert

This section provides information on setting the instrument IP address when your
computer is on a Local Area Network.
To set the instrument IP address for a LA configuration:
1. If your computer is connected to a Local Area Network, have your network
administrator assign an IP address for your instrument hardware that will work
with your computer. (The network administrator can also tell you if you need to
set Subnet Masks.)
