OWNERS MANUAL FOR WEISS JASON CD TRANSPORT
There is a "D/A Converter Enhancement" mode (DAC+ on the remote control unit). This mode
helps to enhance the sonic quality of D/A converters connected to the JASON. DAC+ uses spread
spectrum technology.
Try the DAC+ mode and leave it on or off as per your preference. With excellent D/A converters
you should not be able to hear a difference between DAC+ mode on or off. With very poor D/A
converters other detrimental effects may be stronger and thus no difference between DAC+ on or
off can be heard either.
Outputs:
The Jason has a plethora of output connectors. There are RCA and Toslink outputs which operate at
a constant 44.1kHz sampling rate independent of the setting of the upsampler. There are XLR,
RCA, BNC and ST optical connectors which supply the 44.1 / 88.2 / 176.4 signal as implied by the
setting of the upsampler. Then there are two XLR connectors for dual wire connection to the D/A
Converter. That dual wire output operates at 88.2 or 176.4 kHz only. At 44.1kHz it is muted.
Power Supply:
A powerful non-switching power supply is used. All sensitive voltages have their own regulators.
The power switch activates a semiconductor relais which only switches on or off at zero crossings of
the mains voltage. This assures a glitch free power switching.
Mechanical Design:
The JASON employs a twin metal frame. The inner chassis is made of steel and acts as a very
effective shield against electrostatic and electromagnetic radiation. The outer frame is made of
massive anodized aluminium for additional shielding, resulting in optimal heat convection and
beautiful looks. The four feet have been designed for optimum vibration and shock absorption.
