OWNERS MANUAL FOR WEISS JASON CD TRANSPORT

THE JASON CD TRANSPORT

Features
Transport:
The Jason uses the renowned Philips CDPRO2M transport as its core unit.
Synchronization:
An internal high precision / low jitter clock generator generates all clocking signals, including those
necessary for the CDPRO2M transport.
Digital Signal Processing:
The 44.1kHz / 16 Bit signal coming from the CDPRO2M can optionally be upsampled to 88.2 kHz or
176.4 kHz. The output level and the absolute phase of the audio signal (in phase / inverted) can be
set. When upsampling is engaged or when the level is altered, the necessary mathematical
operations inherently generate a signal which has a wordlength of more than the 16 bits coming
from the CD. In that case the output wordlength can be selected to be 16 or 20 or 24 bits in order
to accommodate for the wordlength of the D/A converter connected to the JASON. The wordlength
reduction to 16, 20 or 24 bits is done via the POW-R dithering algorithm. POW-R is the de-facto
standard in professional audio for wordlength reduction. POW-R has been developed by the POW-R
Consortium LLC, where Weiss Engineering Ltd. is one of the four member companies.
