    Finding fuel or oil residue on muffler is normal due to carburetor adjustments and testing done by the manufacturer. ASSEMBLY Your hedge trimmer is fully assembled; no as- sembly is required.

  • Page 6 STARTING A WARM ENGINE 1. Move the ON/OFF switch to the ON posi- tion. 2. Slowly press the primer bulb 6 times. 3. Move the choke lever to the HALF CHOKE position. 4. Engage the throttle lock as directed in STARTING A COLD ENGINE.

  • Page 7: Carburetor Adjustment

    Make adjustments with the unit resting on a level surface free of debris that can be caught in the hedge trimmer blade. Serious injury to the operator and others can occur if the carburetor is not properly adjusted. Keep all parts of your body away from the blade and muffler.
  • Page 8 NOTE: After adjustment, the washers be- tween the bolt head and the blade should be able to be turned by hand, but not loose enough to move when the unit is tilted from side to side. CAUTION: If the clearance between the cutting blades is set too wide, the blades will not cut correctly.

    ENGINE S Remove spark plug and pour 1 teaspoon of 40:1, 2-cycle engine oil (air cooled) through the spark plug opening. Slowly pull the starter rope 8 to 10 times to distribute oil. S Replace spark plug with new one of recom- mended type and heat range (see RE- PLACE SPARK PLUG section).
