Searching using
the index
function
The unit marks the tape with an index
signal at the point where each recording
begins. Use these signals as references
to find a specific recording. The unit can
search up to 99 index signals ahead or
behind the current position.
Before you start...
• Turn on the unit and the TV.
• Set the TV to the video channel.

Insert an indexed tape into the unit.

Press =/+ INDEX SEARCH/AMS repeatedly to specify how
many index signals ahead or behind you want to search:
• To search ahead, press + INDEX
SEARCH/AMS.
• To search backwards, press =INDEX
SEARCH/AMS.
The unit starts searching and the index
number on the TV screen counts down to
zero. Playback starts automatically from that
point about five seconds ahead of the
specified index mark.
To stop searching
Press p STOP.
Tip
• When karaoke mode is set to on, you can search using the AMS function. For
details about the AMS function, see "Searching for a song using the AMS function"
on page 39.
Note
• No index signal will be added when recording starts from recording pause.
However, an index signal will be marked if you change the programme position
during recording pause.
