Changing music settings
A variety of settings are available for music functions.
1. From the Home screen, tap [
2. Tap the
(Menu) button, then tap [
3. Tap the item to set.
The following items can be set or confirmed.
Equalizer:
Chooses sound quality according to the song or genre.
VPT (Surround) (*1):
Gives a "live" feel to sound played back by setting acoustic effects using the VPT (Surround)
function.
DSEE (Sound enhance) (*2):
Processes compressed sound sources to give high sound quality, and compensates the high
range removed in compression to re-create natural sound with a wide feel close to the
original sound source.
Clear stereo:
Digitally processes the sound from left and right sides of the supplied headphones to clearly
differentiate them and re-create sound with stereo feel emphasized.
Dynamic normalizer:
Moderates the volume level between songs to minimize differences in their recording levels.
This setting prevents the volume from being too high or too low in shuffle playback of songs
from multiple albums with differing recording levels.
xLOUD™:
Plays powerful sound from the built-in speakers.
Clear Phase™:
Sets sound quality appropriate to the built-in speakers.
Keep screen on:
Sets so the screen does not turn off automatically when displaying lyrics.
Update database:
Searches music files and registers them to a database.
About Music player:
Displays the application version.
(*1) VPT: Virtualphones Technology is special acoustic effects developed independently by
Sony.
(*2) DSEE stands for Digital Sound Enhancement Engine, a high range compensation
technology developed independently by Sony.
