Remote Control Using the remote control Open the battery compartment. Insert two batteries type R03 or AAA, following the indications (+-) inside the compartment. Close the cover. Point the remote control directly at the remote sensor (iR) on the front panel. Select the source you wish to control by pressing the DISC, TUNER, TV or AUX/DI button on the remote control.
Step 1: Placing the speakers The Philips Home Theater System is simple to install. However, proper system placement is critical to ensure an optimum sound experience. Place the front left and right speakers at equal distances from the TV and at an angle of approximately 45 degrees from the listening position.
Basic Connections (continued) FRONT RIGHT CENTER FRONT LEFT REAR REAR RIGHT LEFT Step 2: Connecting the speakers to AV subwoofer Connect all the speakers to the speaker jacks at the rear of the AV subwoofer. Make sure that the colors of the plugs and jacks are matched.
Step 3: Connecting the AV subwoofer to DVD system Use the supplied inter-connect cable to connect TO AV SUBWOOFER jack at the rear of the DVD system to the TO DVD SYSTEM jack at the rear of the AV subwoofer. Tighten the screws beside the inter- connect cable to secure the connection.
Basic Connections Step 5: Connecting to TV This connection enables you to view the playback from this DVD system. You only need to choose one of the options below to make the video connection. – For a standard TV, follow option 1 or –...
RF modulator in order to view the DVD playback on the TV. See your electronics retailer or contact Philips for details about RF modulator availability and operations. Use the supplied composite video cable (yellow) to connect the DVD system’s CVBS jack to the video input jack on the RF modulator.
Basic Connections Step 6: Connecting the power cord After everything is connected properly, plug the AC power cord into the power outlet. The Eco Power LED on the DVD system and the AV subwoofer will light up. Never make or change any connections with the power turned on.
Connecting audio from TV When connecting the audio output from your TV to this Home Theater Audio System, you will have the sound of the TV output on all the speakers. Step 3: Setting language preferences The language options are different depending on your country or region. It may not correspond to the illustrations shown on the user manual. On-screen display (OSD) language The OSD (On-Screen Display) language for this DVD system will remain as you have set it, regardless of the changes made to the DVD disc language.
Getting Started (continued) If the language you want is not available in the list, select { Others. } Use the numeric keypad (0-9) on the remote control to enter the 4-digit language code ‘XXXX’ (see last page) and press OK to confi rm. Repeat steps for other settings.
Step 5: Setting up Progressive Scan feature (for Progressive Scan TV only) The progressive scan displays twice the number of frames per second than interlaced scanning (ordinary normal TV system.) With nearly double the number of lines, progressive scan offers higher picture resolution and quality.
