TROUBLESHOOTING

This chapter provides information on possible causes of problems you may experience with your
VDR. If you still have a problem after referring to the table, contact your dealer for further advice.
Always provide the product serial number.
3.1

General Troubleshooting

Use the table below to identify the problem, cause and remedy.
Problem
AC LED does not light.
BATTERY LED does not
light.
BATTERY LED flashes.
SYSTEM FAIL LED lights
in red.

Alert Numbers

Below is a list of alert numbers that appear in the alert list on the RAP (see paragraph 1.3.4). Only
no. 412439 alert "Fatal System Error" corresponds to warning priority and all other alerts to cau-
tion priority.

Cause
No power from the ship's
mains.

Description
This indicates that the time dif-
ference between the system
time of the DCU and the UTC
time supplied by a GPS receiv-
er is more than 10 seconds.
DCU: RAP is missing. Connec-
tion to RAP is lost.
RAP: DCU is missing. Connec-
tion to DCU is lost.
AMS1 is missing. Connection to
AMS1 is lost.
AMS2 is missing. Connection to
AMS2 is lost.
Indicates that Junction Box (IF-
8530) is missing.
Data cannot be stored because
of abnormal VDR configuration.

Remedy
Check the breaker switches on ship's
mains switchboard.
Contact your dealer.
Keep turning on the AC power until finish-
ing the battery charge. The battery charge
may takes approx. six hours.
The alert number for each alert appears in
the alert list on the RAP. For each alert's
remedy, see section 3.2.
Restart the DCU with the GPS
receiver connected. If the er-
ror re-occurs, contact your
dealer.
Restart the DCU. If the error
re-occurs, contact your deal-
er.
Check cable connected to
AMS1. Reconnect AMS1.
Check cable connected to
AMS2. Reconnect AMS2.
Check cable connected to
Junction Box. Reconnect
Junction Box. If the error re-
occurs, contact your dealer.
Restore VDR config data. If
the error re-occurs, contact
your dealer.
