Self-timer

The camera is equipped with a self-timer that releases the shutter few seconds after
you press the shutter-release button. Set Photo VR (A145) to Off in the setup menu
when using a tripod to stabilize the camera during shooting.

Press the multi selector

Select the desired self-timer mode, and
press the k button.
n10s (10 seconds): Use on important occasions,
such as weddings.
n2s (2 seconds): Use to prevent camera shake.
r5s (5 seconds): Use to take self-portraits.
If the setting is not applied by pressing the k
button, the selection will be canceled.
When the shooting mode is Pet portrait scene mode, Y (pet portrait auto release)
(A35) and r5s (self-portrait timer) are displayed.
When the shooting mode is Smart portrait scene mode, a (smile timer) or n
(self-collage) can also be selected (A44, 42).

Frame the picture and press the shutter-release button halfway.

Press the shutter-release button
all the way down.
Countdown starts. The self-timer lamp
flashes and then glows steadily about
one second before the shutter is
released.
When the shutter is released, the self-
timer is set to k.
To stop the countdown, press the
shutter-release button again.

Self-timer Focus and Exposure
Depending on the setting, timing to set focus and exposure is different.
n10s / n2s: Focus and exposure are set when the button is pressed halfway in step 3.
r5s: Focus and exposure are set just before the shutter is released.
