2.1 SAFETY & LIGHTING INFORMATION
Follow Section 2.2 SAFETY INFORMATION and 2.3
LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS to light the appliance.
By design, the flame pattern will not be identical from
unit to unit. Additionally, flame pattern may vary de-
pending on installation type and weather conditions.
After the unit has warmed up (i.e. approximately 15 min-
utes) flame height should be slightly (about 2" (51mm)
below the top of the mesh trim assembly. If the flame
height is higher than this, adjustments must be made
to prevent overheating the gasket and glass. Please

A. This appliance has a pilot. When lighting the pilot,
follow these instructions exactly.
B. BEFORE LIGHTING smell all around the appliance
area for gas. Be sure to smell next to the floor be-
cause some gas is heavier than air and will settle
on the floor.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS
• Do not try to light any appliance.
• Do not touch any electric switch; do not use any
phone in your building.
• Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor's
phone. Follow the gas supplier's instructions.
FOR YOUR SAFETY READ BEFORE LIGHTING
IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY, A FIRE
contact your dealer or a qualified service person to re-
place the injector or adjust the valve.
NOTE: THE TIPS OF THE FLAMES SHOULD NEVER
HIT THE TOP OF THE FIREBOX.
These gas models have gas control valves which al-
lows you to increase or decrease the height of the main
burner flames. The control valves have pressure regu-
lators with knobs. Rotate the knobs clockwise to "HI"
to increase the flame height and counterclockwise to
"LO" to decrease the flame height.
C. Use only your hand to push in or turn the gas
control knob. Never use tools. If the knob will not
push in or turn by hand, don't try to repair it. Call
a qualified service technician. Forced or attempted
repair may result in a fire or explosion.
D. Do not use this appliance if any part has been
under water. Immediately call a qualified service
technician to inspect the appliance and to replace
any part of the gas control system which has been
under water.
