Let us explain the Emission Control System
Warranty...
T h e Emission Control System Warranty of 5 years or 50 000 miles/
80000km, whichever comes first, is in addition to your Limited
New Vehicle Warranty. Both the Emission Control System War-
ranty and the Limited New Vehicle Warranty begin on the date of
original retail delivery or on the date the vehicle was first placed in
service, and extend to all subsequent owners within the specified
warranty periods.
Y o u , as the o w n e r of the vehicle, h a v e the responsibility to provide
regular maintenance service for the vehicle, as specified in the
maintenance schedule for the Porsche Emission Control System.
W e a l s o suggest that you k e e p a record o f all m a i n t e n a n c e services
performed on your vehicle by your authorized Porsche dealer or
any other qualified repairer.
Maintenance, repair or replacement of emission control com-
ponents may be performed by any qualified automotive ser-
vice and repair establishment or individual without affecting
the Emission Control System Warranty, provided that such
repairs are performed to manufacturer's specifications, and
that replacement parts are at least equivalent to genuine
Porsche parts in emission performance and durability. War-
ranty repairs and replacements, however, must be performed
by an authorized Porsche dealer.
If other than genuine Porsche replacement parts are used, the
owner should make sure that such parts are warranted by their
manufacturer and that they are at least equivalent to genuine
Porsche replacement parts in emission performance and durability
The efficiency of the Emission Control System greatly depends
on the overall condition of the car. Not all repairs, adjustments or
replacements result from defects in material or workmanship.
There are other circumstances beyond the control of the manufac-
turer that might make a workshop visit necessary. These depend
m a i n l y on where you drive and h o w youdrive.Theyincludeclimatic
and atmospheric conditions as well as individual driving habits a n d
vehicle usage.
The following are examples of items that are not covered by
this warranty:
Maintenance
A number of components require regular cleaning, adjusting or
replacing at recommended intervals to assure efficient engine
operation and effective emission control. T h e y include spark plugs,
filters, drive belts, etc. Cleaning of the fuel system may become
necessary if contaminated by water, foreign matter, dirt or residue.
