3.4 Connecting the Cash Drawer

1. Confirm that the power switch is OFF.
2. Confirm the top and bottom of the cash
drawer cable connector and insert it into
the cash drawer kick-out connector at the
back of the printer.
CAUTION!
● Only drawer for 8.5V dedicated to Citizen CT-S281 BD can operate. Do not connect the
drawer for 24V available on the market.

(2) Electrical characteristics
1) Driving voltage: 8.5 VDC
2) Driving current: Approx. 1.42A (25°C) (Must be within 400 ms)
3) DRSW signal: Signal levels: "L" = 0 to 0.8 V, "H" = 2 to 3.3 V

The signal status can be checked by
DLE + EOT, GS + a, GS + r commands.

CAUTION!
● Drawer 1, printing and auto-cutter operation cannot be driven at the same time.
● A solenoid used for the cash drawer should be of 6 Ω or more. The output current
should be kept at 1.5A or less; otherwise, breakdown or burning could occur.
