The black control wire is provided for external temperature
setback, e.g. via a timer or a pilot device of the "ecocomfort"
range with programming cassette RMT 1.
The control wire need not be in phase with the mains con-
nection.

4. Heating Operation

Mode selector switch
4.1 Functions of the Mode Selector Switch
OFF
Normal operation. The room temperature is regu-
lated based on the value pre-set on the thermostat.
Setback mode: The temperature is 3.5 K lower than
the value pre-set on the thermostat.
Freeze protection: The appliance will turn on when
the room temperature drops to approx. 7° C.
Automatic temperature setback. This setting is used
for a central temperature setback, e.g. via a timer or
a pilot device.
4.2 Thermostat
The desired room temperature can be set by turning
thermostat dial.
The thermostat switches the radiant heater on and
off as a function of the room temperature and the
value pre-set on the thermostat dial.
In the freeze protection setting (mode selector switch in
position ), the thermostat turns on the radiant heater at an
ambient temperature of approximately 7°C.
The maximum temperature that can be pre-set is 29 °C.
Heat "On"
4.3 Limiting the Thermostat Setting Range
The setting range of the thermostat dial can be defined by
means of the two limiting pins (1) at the rear of the appli-
ance. One pin each is provided for limiting the upper and
lower value.
Remove the pins by moving them back and forth
and then insert them into the holes of the thermostat
dial.

4.4 Securing the controls
The hinged cover can be secured by means of a screw in
order to prevent the setting of the controls from being
changed by unauthorised persons.
Remove screw (2) at the rear of the operating panel, insert
and tighten it as shown in the illustration.

5. Overheat Protection

For your safety, the heater is equipped with an overheat
protection.
If the airflow is obstructed (e.g. because the air grille is cov-
ered or blocked), the appliance is automatically switched
off.
In this case, disconnect the electricity supply to the heater
for a few minutes (set switch to the "OFF"-position) allowing
the appliance to cool down. Before restarting the appliance
correct any possible reasons for overheating that caused
the overheat protection device to trip.
6. Malfunctions
In the event that the heater fails to deliver any heat output,
ensure that:
Mode selector is set correctly - see "4.1 Functions of the
Mode Selector Switch",
Thermostat is set to the desired temperature,
Fuse in the electrical distribution is activated or opera-
tional.
If the malfunction cannot be corrected, please contact your
nearest service agent.
For processing the service call, the product number (E-
number) and the manufacturing date code (FD-number) of
the appliance are required. These data can be found on the
rating plate affixed to the right side of the appliance.
Repairs and interventions in the appliance may only be
performed by a qualified electrician or the customer service.
