5. Note the orientation of the new optical drive. Then, slide the optical drive into the optical-drive bay from
the front of the chassis until it snaps into position.

6. Connect the cables to the optical drive.
Note: If you install a flex module or a flex bay storage enclosure, you might need to connect the cables
to the device, a PCI card, or the system board. See "Parts on the system board" on page 7.
7. Reinstall the direct cooling air baffle. See "Direct cooling air baffle" on page 63.

Storage drive in the flex bay storage enclosure

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding "Read
this first: Important safety information" on page v.
You can install a 3.5-inch hard disk drive, a 2.5-inch hard disk drive, or a 2.5-inch solid-state drive into
the flex bay storage enclosure.
To install or replace a storage drive in the flex bay storage enclosure, refer to the following:

"2.5-inch storage drive" on page 69
3.5-inch storage drive
To install or replace a 3.5-inch storage drive, do the following:
1. Prepare your computer. See "Preparing your computer and removing the computer cover" on page 59.
2. If the flex bay storage enclosure is installed in the computer, disconnect the signal cable and the power
cable from the 3.5-inch storage drive first. Then, remove the flex bay storage enclosure from the front of
the computer. See "Device in an optical-drive bay" on page 65.
