3.0 Use / Installation

Time switches switch on, off or even over as a function of time in a day or 7-day
cycle and date-related any connected electrical consumer units.
– The time switch SEL 173 DCF may only be used in dry rooms.
– Time switches are suitable for deployment in environmental conditions
with normal soiling incidence.
– The time switch SEL 173 DCF is suitable for installing on
35 mm profile section rail (DIN EN 50022).

3.1 Safety notice
Electrical devices should only be connected and installed by a
skilled electrician. Take heed of the national regulations and the
relevantly valid safety stipulations. Intervention and changes to
the device shall cause the warranty rights to lapse.
3.2 Installation notice
Regardless of the elaborate protection measures, exceptionally strong
electromagnetic fields can lead to interference of the microprocessor-
controlled time switch.
We therefore recommend that you take heed of the following points before
installing:
– Use a separate line for supply of the operating voltage.
– Suppress inductive consumer units with suitable RC filters.
– Do not fit the device in the immediate vicinity of noise sources, e.g. transformers,
contactors, PCs television sets or telecommunication devices etc..
– Following a fault we recommend that you carry out a RESET with
recommissioning before putting the device back into operation (section 5.3).
– Units that generate a lot of heat on the right-hand side of the unit shorten the
service life of the battery:
