the silent
speed
arrow.
Regulate
the
speed
of
silent pictures
with the MOTOR
CONTROL
knob.
If
silent
pictures
are projected
without
microphone
or
pickup, it 'is not necessary
to
have the speaker
connected.
MICROPHONE
OR
PHONOGRAPH
PICKUP
To
use
phonograph
music
or supply
microphone
com-
ments with silent pictures,
a
jack
for a
high-impedance
microphone
or
phonograph
pickup
is provided
on
the
left
side
of the Sound
Kodascope.
It
may
be
necessary
with
certain
high-level
phonograph
pickups
to
use
an
auxiliary
volume
control
on
the
pickup
to
prevent
dis-
tortion
in
the
first stage of
the amplifier.
Sound from
the
film
is
not cut off when a plug is inserted in the jack,
thus
permitting
"mixing"
of sound from
microphone
or phono-
graph with sound from film.
Microphone
or Phonograph
and Silent
Pictures:
Turn the
exciter
lamp control knob
until it
clicks
at the
ON
position.
Control
volume
with
the
VOLUME
control
knob.
Do
not
turn
the
VOLUME control
up
so
for that the microphone
howls or "feeds
back."
Microphone
or Phonograph
and Sound Pictures:
Regulate
sound from film with
the exciter
lamp
control
knob and
microphone
or
phonograph
volume
with
the
VOLUME
control
knob.
Oper(Jting Suggestions
No sound
will be heard
if any of the following
conditions
exist:
• Speaker
and projector
not connected
by speaker
cord.
_
• Volume
control
not turned
on.
• Exciter lamp control
not
turned
on. Red window
not illuminated.
• Exciter lamp burned
out, or not located
on all three
studs,
• Fuse blown.
• Tubes or photoelectric
cell need
replacement.
For sound
pictures,
be sure the
exciter
lamp
control
knob is turned
beyond
ON as far as it
will go and that the motor control
knob is
at
sound
speed.
For silent
pictures,
not accompanied
by phonograph
or microphone,
the
speaker
need
not be connected
to the
projector,
nor the
amplifier
turned
on.
Pictures
will be
out
of focus if the gate is left open during
projection.
Loss
of
loop will cause
unsteadiness
in the projected
pictures.
