Use automotivegasoline (unleaded or low leadedto minimizecombustion chamber
deposits) w itha minimumof87 octane. G asoline with up to 10%ethanolor 15%
MTBE (Methyl T ertiaryButylEther) canbeused. N everuseanoff/gasoline mixture
or dirty gasoline. A voidgettingdirt, dust,or waterinthe fuel tank.DO NOT useE85
gasoline.
Useextreme carewhen handling gasoline.Gasolineisextremely flammable
andthe vaporsare explosive.Neverfuel machineindoors or while the
engineishot or running. Extinguishcigarettes,cigars,pipes,andother
sources of ignition.
NOTE: P urchase g asoline in smallquantities. D onot usegasoline left overfromthe
previous season, to minimizegumdeposits in thefuel system.
Thisengineiscertifiedto operate on unleaded gasoline. F orbestresults, f ill

DoNOT top off the fuel tank.
Refuel i n awell-ventilated areawith theenginestopped. D onot smokeor
allowflamesor sparksintheareawherethe engineisrefueled or where
gasoline isstored.
Donot overfillthe fuel tank.After refueling, m akesurethe tank capisclosed
properlyandsecurely.
Becareful n ot to spillfuel whenrefueling.Spilled fuel or fuel vapormay
ignite.Ifanyfuelis spilled,makesurethe areaisdry beforestartingthe
engine.
Avoidrepeated or prolongedcontact w ith skinor breathingof vapor.
AddingFuel
Anadult shouldfuel this engine.NEVER allow children to refuelitsengine.
Gasoline(fuel)vaporsare highlyflammable andcanexplode.Fuelvapors
canspreadandbe ignitedbya sparkor flame manyfeet awayfrom engine.
Toprevent injury or death from fuel fires, follow these instructions:
DO NOT useleadedfuel.
Fuel m ustbefreshandclean.NEVER u sefuel left overfrom lastseason or
storedforlongperiods.
NEVER m ixoil with fuel.
DO NOT usefuel containingMethanol ( WoodAlcohol)
NOTE: B efore refueling,allowengineto cooltwo minutes.
Turnthe engineoff andlet enginecoolat least2 minutesbeforeremoving
the fuel cap.Thegasoline tank islocatedundertheseat.Thefuelcapis
tetheredto thetractorto preventits loss. D onot attemptto remove thecap
from the tractor.
Clean aroundfuelfill beforeremoving capto fuel.
Filltank untilfuel reaches 1 /2 inchbelowthe bottomof the filler neckto
allowspace forfuel expansion. Becareful n ot to overfill.SeeFigure 16.

Replace t he gasoline capandtightensecurely. W ipeupspilledfuel before
startingengine.Iffuel isspilledDONOT startengine.Movemachine away
from areaof spillage. A voidcreatinganysource of ignitionuntil fuelvapors
aregone.
Tire Pressure
Equal t ire pressureshouldbe maintained at all times.Neverexceedthe
maximuminflation pressureshown on the sidewall of the tire.
Therecommended o peratingtire pressure is:
Approximately 10psiforthe reartires
Approximately 14psiforthe front tires
IMPOI?TAN_ R efer t o the tire sidewallforexacttire manufacturer's r ecommended
or maximumpsi.Donot overinflate. U neven tire pressure couldcause the cutting
deckto mow unevenly.
