Restoring backup system software

Restoring backup system software returns the system to its default configuration. It is
slightly faster and more convenient than reinstalling system software from the system
software CDs. If restoring backup fails or you are replacing the HDD, updating to a
more recent version of the system software, or changing languages, you must reinstall
system software from the system software CDs.
Do not interrupt the system while the Restore function is in progress. If you do,

1. If you have not done so already, print the Job Log and to save any custom simulations.
If possible, print the following from the Functions menu:
• Configuration page—lists any installed options, patches, or upgrades, and details
of the current Setup configuration. The Setup configuration is reset to the default
configuration when you install or restore system software. The Configuration page is
useful for restoring the desired Setup configuration after you install system software.
• Font Lists—the PS and PCL Font lists detail the fonts currently installed on the
HDD. These include the original fonts that came installed on the EX7750 and any
additional fonts that may be installed. All fonts are deleted when you install system
software. Use Fiery Downloader to reinstall third-party fonts after system software
reinstalls the original fonts. To determine which third-party fonts you must reinstall,
print the Font List before and after you install or restore system software. Any fonts
not listed after installation must be reinstalled.
2. Remove all USB devices and dongles that may be connected to any EX7750 USB ports.
!
The system hangs if cables or dongles are connected to EX7750 USB ports during
system software restoration.
3. Insert the Restore/Update Server Software CD into the DVD drive.
4. Choose Shut Down from the Functions menu
5. Select Reboot System.
Allow the system to shut down and reboot. Do not push any buttons during this time.
