Entering Text

This section outlines how to select the
desired text entry mode when entering
characters into your phone. This section also
describes how to use the T9 predictive text
entry system to reduce the number of key
strokes needed to enter text.

Text Input Mode

The Text Mode option allows you to choose
T9, ABC, or Numeric mode.
T9 Predictive Text: Enter words with fewer
keystrokes. Each key on the keypad has more
than one letter; for example, press the 5 key to
enter J, K, or L. The T9 mode automatically
compares the series of keystrokes you make
with an internal linguistic dictionary to determine
the most likely word, which requires fewer
keystrokes than the traditional ABC mode.
Multitap: To enter alphabetic characters press
the key labeled with the corresponding letter or
number you want. Press the key repeatedly until
the desired character displays.
Numeric: Used to enter numbers.
Symbols: Enter symbols, such as punctuation
marks.
