Tractor Set-Up
Moving The Tractor Manually
Your tractor's transmission is equipped with a hydrostatic
relief valve for occasions when it is necessary to move the
tractor manually. Opening this valve permits the fluid in the
transmission to bypass its normal route, allowing the rear tires
to "freewheel." To open the hydrostatic relief valve, proceed as
follows:
1.
Locate the hydrostatic bypass rod in the rear of the tractor.
See Fig. 3-1.
Figure 3-1
2.
Pull the hydrostatic bypass rod down, outward and then up
to lock it in place.
NOTE: The transmission will NOT engage when the hydrostatic
bypass rod is pulled out. Return the rod to its normal position
prior to operating the tractor.
CAUTION:
Never attempt to move the tractor
manually without first opening the hydrostatic relief
valve. Doing so will result in serious damage to the
tractor's transmission.

Attaching the Steering Wheel
For shipping purposes, the tractor is crated with the steering
wheel off. Pivot the seat rearward and remove any packaging
material from the seat. Cut the ties securing the steering wheel
and remove any packaging material. Install the steering wheel as
follows:
1.
Locate the steering wheel.
2.
Pry the steering wheel cover/cap off the steering wheel and
remove the hex screw and bell washer. See Fig. 3-3.

3.
Check that the tractor front tires are in the straight position.
If not, temporarily slide the steering wheel onto the
steering shaft and straighten the front wheels. Carefully
remove the steering wheel.
4.
From the operator's seat, rotate the steering wheel so that
the spokes of the wheel are in the basic 'T' position. Align
the steering wheel and press the steering wheel onto the
shaft. See Fig. 3-3.
5.
Slide the bell washer onto the hex screw. Insert the screw
through the center hole of the steering wheel and thread
into the steering shaft. Fully tighten the hex screw into the
steering shaft.
6.
Position the steering wheel cover/cap to align with the
steering wheel. Press the cover/cap downward until it
snaps into place on the steering wheel.
