When the brightness of the subject and the
background are different (METERING)
There are two ways of measuring the brightness of a subject.

Meters the brightness over a wide area with emphasis on the center of the
screen. In this mode, subject can be shot with avarage overall brightness of
the scene.

Exposure is determined by metering within the AF target area. In this mode,
a subject can be shot with optimal exposure regardless of the background
light.
