Hearing/Ear Protection ECHO recommends wearing hearing protection whenever unit is used. Breathing Protection Operators who are sensitive to dust or other common airborne allergens may need to wear a dust mask to prevent inhaling these materials while operating unit.

    The 50 or 300 hour emission compliance period is the time span selected by the manufacturer certifying the engine emissions output meets applicable emissions regulations, provided that approved maintenance procedures are followed as listed in the Maintenance Section of this manual.     Locate the safety decal(s) on your unit. Make sure the decal(s) is legible and that you understand and follow the instructions on it. If a decal cannot be read, a new one can be ordered from your ECHO dealer. See PARTS ORDERING instructions for specific information.

  • Page 19 ™ Echo premium Power Blend X Universal 2-Stroke Oil may be mixed at 50:1 ratio for application in all Echo engines sold in the past regardless of ratio specified in those manuals. Handling Fuel Fuel is VERY flammable. Use extreme care when mixing, storing or handling, or serious personal injury may result.

    The tines should not move at idle. If tines move, readjust carburetor according to "Carburetor Adjustment" instructions in this manual or see your ECHO Dealer, otherwise serious personal injury may result. Lay the unit on a flat area and keep movable attachment parts clear of all obstacles.

    • Depress throttle trigger gradually to begin operation. • Release throttle trigger to stop tines. • Allow engine to return to idle, and move switch to “Stop” position to stop engine. X7504083609 © 4/2016 ECHO Inc.

    ECHO Service Dealer for maintenance. To help you decide whether you want to DO-IT-YOURSELF or have the ECHO Dealer do it, each maintenance task has been graded. If the task is not listed, see your ECHO Dealer for repairs.

    Remove air filter cover. Brush dirt from inside cover. Remove air filter and lightly brush debris from filter. Replace filter if it is damaged, fuel soaked, very dirty, or the rubber sealing edges are deformed. X7504083609 © 4/2016 ECHO Inc.

    • Dust and grass build up on the outside of the cylinder. This build up insulates the engine and prevents the heat from leaving. Removal of cooling passage blockages or cleaning of cooling fins is considered “Normal Maintenance.” Any failure attributed to lack of maintenance is not warranted. X7504083609 © 4/2016 ECHO Inc.

  • Page 30 Tighten muffler mounting bolts (or nuts) to 90-110 kgf•cm (80-95 in•lbf). Install engine cover and attach spark plug lead. Start engine, and warm to operating temperature. Stop engine, and re-tighten mounting bolts (or nuts) to specifications. X7504083609 © 4/2016 ECHO Inc.

    Before adjusting the carburetor, clean or replace the air filter and spark arrestor screen. Sharp rotating tines! Do not allow tines to touch anything during carburetor adjustment. Contact with revolving tines will cause severe injury. X7504083609 © 4/2016 ECHO Inc.
