Replacing or Removing a Module
It is highly recommended that the module be shutdown before replacing or
removing it. The module maybe shutdown using the shutdown button on the
front panel of the module or using the following CLI command:
hostswitch# services <slot-id> shutdown
It is possible to "hot-swap" one module for another of the same type; that is,
replace one module with another while the switch is still powered on, without
interrupting the operation of the rest of the switch ports. If the modules are
not the same type, you must reboot the switch before installing the new
module and the switch may have to be reconfigured.
If you do not reboot the switch before installing the Advanced Services Module
in a slot that used to house a different type of module, the module will fail to
boot.
A 5-second delay is mandatory between removing a module, and either re-
installing it, or replacing it with another.
To replace one module with another, or to remove a module without replacing
it, use the following procedure:
1.
Unscrew the retaining screws enough to disconnect them from the
threaded holes in the switch.
2.
Using the extractor handles pull the module out from the slot.
3.
Do one of the following:
If installing another module of the same type, go to
Procedure" on page 1-4

module.
If another module will not be installed in the slot (that is, the slot will
be left empty), re-install the cover plate over the slot opening.
