NOTE
The switches mounted in the right
handlebar switch housing (A, Figu re
84) are not available separa tely.
If
one switch is damaged, replace the
enti re switch housing.
The right handlebar co nta ins the all-wheel drive
switch and the electronic throttl e contro l switch.
CAUTION
Do not attempt

the battery disconnected.

Disconnect the negative battery cable as de-
scribed in this chapte r.
2. Remove the front fender as described in Chapt er
Fifteen.
3A . On Xplore r mo del s, perform the follow ing:
a. Remove the top cove r from the instrum ent
panel cover.

b. Remove the two screws securing the instru-

4. Remo ve the tie wrap s securing the switch wirin g
harness to the hand lebar and frame.
5. Follow the right sw itch e lectri cal wires from the
switch down throu gh the headlight lowe r pod (Fig-

4. Wh en separating two connector s, pull on the
connector housings but not the wires.
5. After locating a defective circuit , check the con-
nectors to make sure they arc clean and pro perl y
connected . Check all wires going into a connector
hou sing to make sure each wire is positioned prop-
erly and that the wire end is not loose.
6. To reconnect connectors pro perly, push them to-
gether until they click or snap into place.
7. If the switch or button doc s not perform prop-
erly, rep lace it.
2. Disco nnect the negative ba ttery cab le (see this
chap ter) before check ing the continuity of any
sw itc h.
3. Detach a ll co nnecto rs located bet ween the
swi tch and the electrica l circuit.
