Get to know the Samsung Ace
SYNCHRONIZE THE ACE™ WITH OUTLOOK
Windows Mobile 6 is the latest operating system from Microsoft featuring True "Direct Push" technology. The ACE™
synchronizes your Microsoft
phone. ActiveSync
is already installed on your ACE™, but must be installed on your PC (using the Companion CD included with
®
your phone) before you can synchronize data.
Install ActiveSync
on the PC*
®
1. Place the Companion CD in the drive on your PC and wait for the Installation Wizard to appear on your computer screen.
2. Select the Setup and Installation option.
3. Click Install and follow the on-screen instructions.
4. When ActiveSync
completes installation, click Finish.
®
Connect the devices and run ActiveSync
1. Connect the USB cable from the ACE™ (use the same phone port as for battery charging) to an available USB port on your
PC.
2. ActiveSync
prompts you to set up a partnership. Click Next.
®
3. Enter a unique name for your device and click Next.
4. Select or deselect the items to synchronize (Calendar, Contacts, Inbox, etc.), then click Next.
5. Click the check box to Allow Wireless Connections, then click Next.
6. Click Finish to complete the ActiveSync
7. In the future, every time you connect the ACE™ to your computer using the data cable, the Outlook information you specified
will synchronize.
NOTE: With Microsoft
Office Outlook
®
Server. To sync directly with your company's Exchange Server, you will need to supply the server address, username,
password, and domain name.
*ActiveSync
is not supported on Windows Vista. In Windows Vista, the Windows
®
ActiveSync
as the application for synchronizing your device with your PC. If you are using a Windows Vista PC, when the
®
instructions refer to ActiveSync
Accessing your Calendar and Contacts on the ACE™
After synchronizing the ACE™ with Outlook
phone.
1. To access your Contacts, from the Home screen press the right soft key for Contacts.
2. To access your Calendar, from the Home screen press the left soft key for Start, then highlight the Organizer icon and press
the Center navigation key. Highlight Calendar and press the Center navigation key.
3. Any updates made to the Contacts or Calendar on your phone will update your computer's information the next time you
synchronize with the PC.
Open an Email and view an attachment using Enhanced Document Viewer
1. From the Home screen, press the Email key (lower right corner of the keypad).
2. In the Messaging screen, select Outlook E-mail and then open any message containing an attachment (PDF, Word, Excel, or
PowerPoint document).
3. Highlight the e-mail's attachment and press the Center navigation key. The attachment will be downloaded.
NOTE: If your handset is not currently connected to your PC or Exchange Server, the attachment will be downloaded the next
time you are connected.
4. When you click on the downloaded file, you will be prompted: "What would you like to do with this file?" Press the Open soft
key to view the attachment on the phone screen.
