Use the following procedure to start your server.
1. Turn on all external devices, such as the monitor.
Note:
After you plug the power cord into an outlet, wait 20 seconds before
pressing the power control button. During this time, the power control
button will not respond because the system management microprocessor
is being initialized.
2. Press the power control button on the front of the server. The power-on light
comes on and the power-on self-test (POST) begins.
The following illustration shows the controls and indicators on the server.
Reset button
Hard-disk drive status light: Each of the hot-swap drives has a status light.
When this amber light is on continuously, the drive has failed. When the light
flashes slowly (one flash per second), the drive is being rebuilt. When the light
flashes rapidly (three flashes per second), the controller is identifying the drive.
Hard-disk activity light: Each of the hot-swap drives has a hard-disk activity
light. When this green light is flashing, the drive is being accessed.
CD-ROM eject/load button: Press this button to eject or retract the CD-ROM
tray.
CD-ROM drive in-use light: When this light is on, the CD-ROM drive is being
accessed.
Diskette-eject button: Press this button to eject a diskette from the drive.
Diskette drive in-use light: When this light is on, the diskette drive is being
accessed.
