Comfortron
Air Conditioner
The
Oldsmobile Comfortron Air
Condi-
tioning
system
(optional
equipment)
auto~
maticaUy
controls
the air-conditioner-heat-
er system
to provide the interior tempera-
ture selected
by
the
driver
on the
control
panel
temperature
dial.
The
"Comfortton"
unit is AUTOMATIC and requires little
change
of setting
due to outside weather
conditions.
Dash Outlets - In warm we a the r, air
which
has been
cooled
and dehumidified,
is discharged from three adjustable
outlets,
one at
each end
and one
in
the top
center
of
the
dash panel. Each outlet can be
adjusted
to
divert air throughout the
car.
Air flow
can be
reduced
from the
left and
center outlets
by
positioning the deflector
in
the
extreme
down
position. Reduction
of
the air flow
at
the
right outlet
is
ob-
tained by positioning
the
deflector
to the
extreme
right.
Controls
-
The
"Comfort
ron"
control pan-
el
is
located
on the
instrument
panel,
just
to
the
left
of
the
steering column.
Normal Operation -
Use
the
foHowing
procedme:
L Rotate the
"TEMP" (temperature) dial.

the left
side of the control
panel,
to the desired
interior
tempera-
ture.

horizontal
sliding
lever
should be
moved to the
"LO"
position.
This
turns the system on and
provides
auto-
matic
temperature control.
NOTE: After the initial settings are
made,
it is not
necessary to turn the system
"OFF"
each time the ignition switch
is
turned off.
T
he air-conditioner-heater sys-
tem will operate automatically whenever
the
car
is started.
It will start almost
immediately
in
wann weather, but the
heater operation
in
cold weather will
be
delayed until heat is available from the
engine coolant.
Unusual
Operation
-
Three additional set-
tings of
the sliding control
lever
are pro-
vided for
use
in
those
few instances
when
extreme
weather
conditions
call
for
extra
volume of
heated
or cooled
air
or for
air
