4-11. Threading Welding Wire

Tools Needed:
Open pressure assembly.
Be sure that wire is positioned in proper drive
roll groove and wire is laying in the groove.
Close and tighten pressure
assembly, and let go of wire.
Press gun trigger until wire comes
out of gun.

Pull and hold wire; cut off end.

Use pressure indicator scale to set a desired
drive roll pressure. Begin with a setting of 3.
If necessary, make additional adjustments
Tighten
after trying this initial setting.

Be sure that tip matches wire diameter.
Reinstall contact tip and nozzle.

Hold wire tightly to keep it
from unraveling.

Remove gun nozzle and contact tip.
Feed wire to check drive roll pressure.
Tighten knob enough to prevent slipping.

Lay gun cable out straight.

Push wire thru guides into gun;
continue to hold wire.
