Checking the stator windings
Once the diode bridge is removed, the stator windings
can be measured by setting the multimeter to "buzzer
position".
Measure the resistance of each winding.
NOTE! First check the internal resistance of the mea-
surement wires. When measurement of the stator
windings is performed, the internal resistance of the
measurement wires (i.e. 0.10Ω) must be subtracted
from the value displayed.
Measure between all winding connections (three mea-
surements). The resistance be 0.10Ω.
Also measure to the alternator body by connecting the
instrument in position Ω. And then measure from each
winding to the body. The instrument should show a one
"1" with these measurements (which means infinity).
If the instrument shows any other value, the stator
winding is faulty. If any of the stator windings are
faulty, the complete stator ring must be replaced.

Starter motor

General
The starter motor is a DC series motor. The starter
pinion is operated by a control solenoid and can be
slid axially on the rotor.
The starter motor is fitted with a reduction gear, which
provides a higher torque.
Removing the starter motor
1. Remove both battery cables.
2. Undo the electrical connections from the starter
motor.
3. Remove the starter motors fixing bolts and lift off
the starter motor.
