Using the Remote Controller

The CDR1000's wireless, infrared remote controller can be used to control virtually all
playback and recording functions remotely. In addition to duplicating the buttons
found on the CDR1000 front panel, the remote controller features a number keypad for
direct track selection. See "Selecting Tracks Directly" on page 26 for more information.
Commands transmitted by the remote controller are encoded specifically for the
CDR1000 and should be ignored by other equipment.
Installing the Remote Controller's Batteries
The remote controller uses two R6P, LR6, AA (R6) size batteries, and two new batteries
are supplied with the CDR1000. No special tools are required for installation.
Remove the battery compartment cover.
1
Install the supplied batteries as indicated inside the battery compartment,
2
paying special attention to the polarity (+ to +, – to –).
Replace the battery compartment cover.
3
If the remote controller doesn't work, make sure that the batteries are installed cor-
rectly. If it still doesn't work, make sure that the Utility Remote parameter is set to ON.
See "Disabling the Remote Controller" on page 59 for more information.
If the remote controller fails to work after several months, the batteries may need
replacing. Always replace both batteries at the same time, with the specified size.
If the remote controller is not to be used for a long period, for example, more than one
month, remove the batteries to prevent damage due to battery leakage.
