SAFETY INTERLOCK
SYSTEM
Thesafetyinterlock systemisdesigned for safeoperation o f thetrac-
tor.If thissystemshouldevermalfunction, do notoperate thetractor,
immediately c ontact1-800-4-MY-HOME tohavethesystemserviced.
Thesafetyinterlock system prevents theenginefromstarting
unless theparkingbrakeis engaged and thePTOCBlade E ngage)
leveris in thedisengaged ( OFF)position.
Thesafetyinterlock system willautomatically s hutoff theengineif
theoperator l eaves theseatbeforeengaging theparkingbrake.
Thesafetyinterlock systemwillautomatically shutoff theengine
if theoperator l eaves thetractor'sseatwiththe PTO(Blade
Engage) l everengaged, r egardless o fwhether theparkingbrake
isengaged.
REVERSE
CAUTION
MODE
Useextreme caution whileoperating t hetractorin theREVERSE
CAUTION MODE. A lwayslookdownand behind beforeandwhile
backing. D onotoperate thetractorwhenchildrenorothersare
around.Stopthetractorimmediately i f someone entersthearea.
The REVERSE CAUTION MODEposition ofthekeyswitch module
allowsthetractor tobeoperated i nreverse w ith theblades(PTO)
engaged.
IMPORTANT"Mowing in reverse is notrecommended.

Depress theREVERSE PUSH BUTTON (Orange, Triangular
Button) at thetop,rightcomerof thekeyswitchmodule. T hered
indicator lightat thetop,left comerofthekey switch modulewill
be ONwhileactivated. SeeFigure8.

Onceactivated(indicator lightON),thetractor c anbe driven in
reverse withthe cuttingblades(PTO)engaged.
5.
Alwayslookdownand behindbeforeandwhilebacking to make
surenochildrenarearound.

Afterresuming forwardmotion,returnthekeyto theNORMAL
MOWING position.
IMPORTANT: T heREVERSE CAUTION rvIODE w illremain activated
until:
a.
Thekeyis placedin eithertheNORMAL MOWING position
or STOPposition.
b.
Theoperator e ngages theparkingbrakebyfullydepressing
theclutch-brake p edalandholding it downwhilemoving the
speedcontrolleverintothePARKBRAKE position.
ENGAGING
THE PARKING
BRAKE
To engage the parking brake:
1.
Fullydepress the clutch-brake p edalandholdit downwithyour
foot,
2.
Move thespeedcontrolleverall thewaydownandintothe
parking brakeposition.
3.
Release the clutch-brake p edalto allowtheparkingbraketo
engage.
To release the parking
brake:
1.
Depress theclutch-brake pedaland movethespeedcontrol
leveroutof theparking brakeposition a ndintoa desired speed.
SETTING
THE CUTTING
HEIGHT
1
Select the height position of the cutting deck by placing the
deck lift lever in any of the six different cutting height notches on
the right sideof the fender.
2.
Adjust the deck wheels so that they are between ¼-inch and
V2-inchabove the ground when the tractor is on a smooth,fiat
surface such as a driveway.
To adjust

Wheels:
1.
Remove theflangelocknuton theshoulder b oltsecuring the
deckwheel.
2.
Position thewheel t o thedesiredheightaslistedabove.
3.
Secure theshoulder b oltwiththeflangelocknut.

Keephandsandfeetawayfromthedischarge opening of thecutting
deck.
NOTE: The deck wheels are an anti-scalp feature of the deck and
are not designed to support the weight of the cutting deck. Referto
Leveling inthe Maintenance& Service section of this manualfor more
detailed instructions regarding various deck adjustments.
