    EAU10460 Main switch/steering lock LOCK The main switch/steering lock controls the ignition and lighting systems, and is used to lock the steering. The various positions are described below.     INSTRUMENT AND CONTROL FUNCTIONS The Yamaha ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) features a dual electronic con- trol system, which acts on the front and rear brakes independently. The ABS is monitored by an ECU (Electronic Con- trol Unit), which will have recourse to manual braking if a malfunction occurs.

    Read the Owner’s Manual carefully to become familiar with all controls. If there is a control or function you do not understand, ask your Yamaha dealer. WARNING Failure to familiarize yourself with the controls can lead to loss of con- trol, which could cause an accident or injury.

    The throttle cable free play should mea- sure 3.0–5.0 mm (0.12–0.20 in) at the throttle grip. Periodically check the throttle cable free play and, if neces- sary, have a Yamaha dealer adjust it. EAU21382 Valve clearance The valve clearance changes with use, resulting in improper air-fuel mixture and/or engine noise.
