Step Three: Be careful to not touch any components inside the computer’s chassis, as they also can be damaged by static electricity. Confirm that the wrist-strap is grounded. If a wrist-strap is not available, touch a non-painted, metallic part of a computer plugged in to a wall outlet to remove any excess charge.

To enable a local terminal at the port ttyy1a for login, use the command enable /dev/ttyy1a. By default, the Cyclom-Y ports are enabled at 19200 bps, 8 bits, no parity, 1 stop-bit. Serial printers are enabled by using the system administration tools provided by the operating system.

How to Install the Device Driver The Cyclom-Y Linux driver is already in the kernel distribution tree. Normally, there is no need to apply patches or install files. Be aware, however, that the Linux system is constantly evolving and it is very difficult to keep documentation updated. Refer to the README files in the Linux distribution package for the latest information.

The Cyclom-Y NT driver supports Microsoft Windows NT version 3.51 or 4.0. Once the Cyclom-Y NT driver is installed in a system, the Cyclom-Y serial ports are seen by the NT applications as generic COM ports. Remote access, terminal emulation and bulletin board services are some examples of applications that use serial ports in the NT environment.

4. Select the type of hardware to install: Multi-function adapters. 5. Click on Have Disk. 6. Insert the Cyclom-Y Win95/Win 98 Driver disk or enter the path to where the driver files are located. 7. Select which Cyclom-Y ISA model you want to install and click on Next.
