Softener Operation As water enters the softener, it passes over a resin bed in a special tank. The resin consists of tiny beads of a plastic called styrene. These beads attract and hold sodium ions and exchange the sodi- um for hardness ions when encountered. When I plug in the power cord to my Brass master plus unit, water flows into the salt storage tank and a "E" appears on the monitor screen. I have turned off the water control valve on the unit to keep the tank from overflowing. I'm unable to reset the control module to get the unit to operate properly. What can I do?
The "E" issue refers to hardness in the hot water tank. To resolve it, repeatedly flush the hot water tank.
For the problem of insufficient water flowing into the salt (brine) storage tank, check the brine tank fill time and clean the brine line if it is plugged.
