    Device Description The Wireless USB Adapter’s form and function are easy to understand and easy to configure. This device comes with front panel LED indicators and an RF Antenna.     Hardware Installation Hardware configuration is simply using the USB cable to make a connection between the USB Adapter and your computer. 1. Plug the square end (Type B) of the USB cable into the adapter's USB port. 2. Plug the rectangular end (Type A) of the USB cable into the PC's USB port.
  • Page 9 1. In Add New Hardware Wizard, click Next. 2. Select Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended). Click Next.
  • Page 10 3. Insert the installation CD-ROM that came with your device into the CD-ROM drive. Select Specify a location: and click Browse and enter the appropriate path (e.g. E:\Win9xMe). Click Next. 4. Click Next. Windows will copy all the necessary files to your system.

    For Windows ME Once your system detects the new device, it will automatically bring up the hardware installation program. Follow the steps below to complete the installation. 1. Select Specify the location of the driver (Advanced), click Next. 2. Insert the installation CD-ROM that came with your device into the CD-ROM drive.

    For Windows XP Once the device is connected to your computer, Windows XP will automatically detect the new device. Follow the instructions below to complete the installation. 1. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click Next.

    Verify Installation To verify if the device has been properly installed in your computer and is enabled, go to Start Settings Control Panel System ( Hardware) Device Manager. Expand the Network adapters category. If the Wireless USB Adapter is listed, your device has been properly installed and enabled.

    Setup Utility CD-ROM supplied with your device. 1. Insert the Setup Utility CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. The autorun program will display the screen below. Select RG-11bu (USB Adapter).   • Page 24 3. When the Welcome screen appears, click Next to continue. 4. The Choose Destination Location screen will show you the default destination chosen by the utility. Click Next to continue.

    Network Connection Once the driver has been installed, you must make some adjustments to the network settings in your computer. For Windows 98SE/ME Go to Start Settings Control Panel Network. 2. In the Network screen, make sure that you have all the following components installed.

At the Network screen, you can make your computer visible on the network, by clicking on the File and Print Sharing button.

    Site Survey Tab The Site Survey tab shows all the available Access Points or Peer-to-Peer types and their features. Item Description BSSID A set of wireless stations is referred to as a Basic Service Set (BSS). Computers in a BSS must be configured with the same BSS ID.

    Encryption Tab WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) encryption can be used to ensure the security of your wireless network.

In the drop-down box next to the label “Encryption”, you can choose from three WEP encryption options: Disabled, 64 Bit, or 128 Bit. These fields are the configuration keys used in Key #1/Key #2/ accessing the wireless network via WEP encryption.
