    Content Instruction This manual will familiarize you with the installation and use of your Rotec MDR-12 display. Please take the time to read these instructions even if you are familiar with monitors and computers. We have taken all possible care to ensure that this manual contains correct, accurate information. We reserve the right to make changes according to technical progress.

Like any electronic device, however, the display should be used with care. To protect yourself from possible injury and to minimize the risk of damage to the display, read and follow these safety instructions.

    Content • To prevent fire, never place any type of candle or flames on the top or near the display. • Do not permit anything to rest on the power cord. Do not locate the display where people can walk on its power cord.

    Content Wall mounting The Rotec iPC12 PanelPC can be mounted and operated in vertical or in horizontal position. That means that you can hang the display either in “landscape” or in “portrait” orientation to the wall. The displayed picture can also be rotated to fit the desired orientation.

    Interfaces iPC12 Interfaces 5.1. Video-In The Video-In Interface is realized using a Conexant CX23883 PCI Video Decoder, that provides depending on configuration four FBAS signal inputs (multiplexed on one A/D-Converter) or three FBAS and one S-Video input. Note: The Video-In ist not available on the light version 5.2.

    Content 5.6. USB Three USB host controllers are on the Intel® 82801DB south bridge device. The USB controllers comply with both versions 1.1 and 2.0 of the USB standard and are backward compatible. Only two ports are available. The USB controllers are PCI bus devices. The BIOS allocates required system resources during configuration of the PCI bus.

    Start Up iPC12 Start Up The iPC will start up by connecting the power cable to the power connector on the rear side. Take care that the cable is supplied with power. The iPC will boot up after power on.

    PC Specifications iPC12 9.3. Watchdog Timer The watchdog timer (WDT) is integrated in the Winbond W83627 controller of the ePanel PM and can issue a reset to the system. The watchdog timer circuit has to be triggered within a specified time by the application software.

    CPU die. To monitor the parameters of this feature from your operating system, ROTEC recommends that you use the 32-bit protected mode JUMPtec’s Intelligent Device Architecture driver (JIDA 32) with the test and demo application for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP.

    PC Specifications iPC12 9.5. Thermal Management The Thermal Management feature of the ePanel PM helps control the processor’s temperature by activating the automatic thermal throttling after the processor silicon reaches a certain temperature. This feature can be enabled and configured in the BIOS Setup utility. You can specify the temperature level when throttling starts, define a hysteresis value to get back to 100% CPU performance, and specify the percentage for CPU performance in throttling mode.

    PC Specifications iPC12 9.8.9. Bios Extension Besides the PHOENIX System BIOS, the ePanel PM comes with a few BIOS extensions that support special features. All extensions are located in the onboard Flash. Some extensions are permanently available; some are loaded if required during boot-up.
