Regarding the electrical back up water heater, you can choose to connect both of the heat elements to speed up heat rate, or you can only connect one on the top of this water heater.

Cleaning Regular rain should keep the evacuated tubes clean, but if particularly dirty they may be washed with a soft cloth and warm, soapy water or glass cleaning solution. If the tubes are not easily and safety accessible, high pressure water spray is also effective.
