    Upon request, the VN-306T distributes its own six channels of collected video to each workstation, or to a Kollector Elite Server, over a network. Each recorder and workstation is capable of viewing a total of six simultaneous cameras while supporting archiving, system configuration and the control of pan/tilt/zoom drives.

    ViconNet viewer software used to communicate with the VN-306T Unpacking and Inspection All Vicon equipment is tested and inspected before leaving the factory. It is the carrier’s responsibility to provide suitable delivery. Inspect the cartons upon delivery and, if damage is present, make detailed notes on the carrier’s bill.

    Mounting The desk or table must provide a surface of suitable strength for the VN-306T’s weight of 3.3 lb (1.5 kg). In addition, there must be area left around the cabinet to provide suitable airflow for cooling. Do not place heavy items on the cover.

    With the transmitter setup as shown in Chapter 3, Installation, press the Power Switch (switch Q in Figure 3-2 on page 6) to the ON position (“I” pressed in). The VN-306T then begins its boot routine. IMPORTANT: Do not press any keyboard buttons at this time.

    VNSetup Configuration General The VN-306T server is factory configured to operate on any Ethernet network as it is connected to it. The initial configuration of parameters must be done using dedicated configuration software called VNSetup. Before running VNSetup, verify that the VN-306T is connected directly to a PC/Workstation without a router.

    The TX selection field shows all VN-306T and IP cameras that are found on the local network. By using the MAC address of the device to be configured, (VN-306T has a MAC address sticker on the bottom of the unit), locate the desired line.

    After applying all changes to the desired VN-306T configuration, click on Apply and allow the VN-306T to restart. The VN-306T then starts up with the new configuration. You can access it and set it up from the ViconNet software on the same Nucleus.

    Chapter 10 Twisted-Pair Cable Recommendations CAUTION: Careful selection of the proper cable is essential to obtain the best performance from this equipment. Vicon assumes no responsibility for poor performance when cables other than those recommended are installed. Materials Use a pure copper stranded conductor with or without a tin-plating to obtain a low DC resistance. Do not use cable with either a steel or an aluminum stranded conductor because these do not transfer signals effectively for long distances.
