Chapter L E I V I O T E C H N O L O G I E S , I N C . Chapter 1 Safety Information IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING. For your safety, the information in this manual must be followed to minimize the risk of fire or explosion, electric shock, or to prevent property damage, personal injury, or loss of life.
  • Page 5 Do not operate this unit if it has a damaged power cord or plug, if it is not working properly, or if it has been damaged or dropped. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Leivio Technologies Inc. or an authorized service agent using a power cord available from Leivio Technologies, Inc.
  • Page 6: Grounding Instructions

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING! Improper use of the grounding plug can result in a risk of electric shock. This unit must be grounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric shock by providing an escape wire for the electric current. This unit is equipped with a power cord having a grounding wire with a grounding plug.
  • Page 7: Adapter Plugs

ADAPTER PLUGS Ensure proper ground and firm connection before use. Situations when power cord is disconnected infrequently. Because of potential safety hazards under certain conditions, we strongly recommend against the use of an adapter plug. However, if you still elect to use an adapter, where local codes permit a TEMPORARY CONNECTION may be made to a properly grounded 2-prong wall receptacle by the use of a UL listed adapter which is available at most local hardware stores.
  • Page 8: Extension Cords

EXTENSION CORDS A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords may be used if you are careful in using them. If an extension cord is used— The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the unit.

Chapter Chapter 2 Setup Instructions Be sure to read and understand the following operation information for maximum benefit from the product. Cabling and Connecting Setup Set up for the unit is pretty straight forward. After unpacking the unit and inspecting the case for any possible shipping damage place the unit in its intended operating position.
  • Page 10: Audio Connections

Audio Connections Feed either monaural or stereo into the units Line level 3.5mm (1/8 inch) male Mini- phono jack. If you have a mono signal, you may use a 2-conductor plug for this signal input or the three conductor plug for a stereo signal to be encoded. Network Cable Connections Connect the units NIC RJ-45 port (CAT5 cable) from a local 10/100BaseT switch network.
  • Page 11: Configuring The Network Interface

There are four basic steps to configuring the network address and default encoding modes 1. Configure the terminal program to communicate with the Leivio RS232 2. Activate the serial port link between the User PC and the device 3. Program the defaults 4.

To finish teaching the computer and the encoder to communicate select the box marked “Echo typed characters locally”. Then click “OK” and “OK” With other OS platforms and terminal programs the basic functions are the same. Just remember to set the data rate at 9600 Bits per second and the ASCII character sending to Local Echo with the correct serial port connected.
